Meditation for de-stress - Great for students (and their teachers)

Stress can be really harmful in the classroom. Meditation is a great resource to deal with this problem, plus it can be used as an English teaching resource as well specially when teaching topics like "The body".
This practice can have the double effect of calming both students and teachers before a lesson which is being foreseen as "difficult".
It can become part of the routine our it can simply pop up from the teacher's sleeve when the time is right.

Enjoy, and relax...

Winnie the Witch Story, video and song

Winnie the Witch by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul is a great and funny story to teach topics like:
  • Colours
  • The house
  • Furniture
  • (and maybe) Pets
Because it stars a witch as the main character, it is also perfect to be used in class around Halloween time.

Here you can find:

Super Powerful Spiderweb - Halloween Craft

Look at the skillful work of art that this spider has crafted in my mother's garden. Impressive, isn't it ?

Spiders and spiderwebs may not be "our thing" but they certainly play an irreplaceable role in Halloween!

Today I'll show you how your students can make an awesome, sparkling, "super powerful" spiderweb!

I've learned it from a very special teacher (Stefy) at Pilgrims some years ago...

It's an easy craft and it can also become a great trap to catch all the Halloween monsters that fly around during this time of year.

Here we go:

You'll need these materials:
a sheet of paper, markers, a transparent punch pocket, white glue and glitter (lots of glitter!!)
Steps:
  1. Draw a spiderweb on a sheet of paper;
  2. Put the paper inside the transparent punch pocket;
  3. Cover the lines with white glue;
  4. Sprinkle some glitter on the glue;
  5. Let it dry for, at least, 24 hours.

 And voilà!

It looks splendid on the windows!

Happy Halloween

Describing celebrities is fun! This time I've chosen -the mega famous- Cristiano Ronaldo.
This is a guided writing task.
Students are asked to write some personal info about the celebrity as well as the complete physical description.

Oops, It seems that this file had a mistake before. Instead of "Spanish" it was written "Spannish". I would like to thank Raquel Gonçalves for letting me know. I've just corrected it. Please make sure you've got the right file. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. "Poop happens"
